Do you See what I See??

Yes you are seeing it right. Miss Ellie Ivy got her first pair of glasses yesterday. With her dad being blind as a bat, her chances of having good vision were not great. He also got his glasses in second grade so we figured her turn may have been coming. I wasn't sure how she would react to the news. Ellie doesn't always take things in stride, but to my surprise she was elated. She couldn't wait to pick them out and to get them. You never know with her. The child is unpredictable! We went and picked out the frames last Saturday. She was extremely disappointed (to the point of tears) that she didn't get to take them home that day. Apparently I failed to explain before we got there that it would take a few days to get them in. OOPS! So, she waited patiently for 5 long days until we got the call. For the moment anyways, she loves them. I am sure the novelty will soon disappear, but I am relieved that at least for now it is not a battle to get her to wear them. Trust me. I do not need any more battles. It worked in my favor, that it is *in* to wear glasses in elementary school right now (if you didn't know!) Ellie told me that she heard some of the 6th grade girls saying they were going to try and do bad on the test so that they could get glasses. What?? I don't recall glasses every being the *cool* when I was in school, but whatever works. I guess glasses are the latest fashion accessory around the halls of her Elementary. So besides just looking cute, hopefully they will help her see the board at school and lessen the number of headaches she gets. Trust a mother to always see the practical side!

Who is Cuter? huh?

This is a picture of me when I was about the same age as Ellie. My mom picked out these glasses for me. I think this is child abuse. ha ha just kidding mom. I actually look like a mad scientist from Norway. I think it improved my chances of winning the 5th grade geography bee, but hurt my chances with the ladies.

So your little Ellie is super cute in her new accessory! Um, as for Poor Jeff...what did he do to deserve that? In fact, I think who ever designed those is going to hell. I hope nobody ever told him that those were cool...because if they did they were lying or in serious denial.`

Wait, are those even children's glasses? I think I saw those on Sally Jesse Raphael. I think Jeff is getting into heaven just for wearing those for 4 years.

Ellie, you looked so cute in your new glasses last night. I enjoyed our time together driving over to our new house. xo Grandma Stott
